A Casa Hogar (foster home & orphange) that serves between 20-25 neglected children along with a handful of battered women. They are in the process of getting their licence through DIF, child protective services, so they can be home for more abandoned children.
Pastor Jozue & his wife, Jazmin, also provide a community center breakfast program, homework help, & youth groups. They are pouring their lives into the community of Ojos, especially the children, to give them a hope of a better future.
They show them how a Godly young man can impact the community around them. Through this mentorship all the teens got & kept jobs during the pandemic. Several have graduated high school, one is attending a university to become an accountant and one is becoming a dentist! These young men can often be found serving others at orphanages & neighborhood dinners. Karen & Lucas also help teach computer and English at local orphanages.
She ministers in a wide capacity: a weekly radio program, puppet shows with Biblical lessons, hospital visitation, Bible studies in women’s shelters & men’s rehabilitation centers. She also tutors children, makes home visits & food distributions. All of these outreaches are ways she can be the hands & feet of Jesus while sharing about His great love for every person!
This newly established ministry, 2020, takes in sexually abused high risk girls who are young Mamas as a result of the abuse and shows them that there is hope in Christ. That they are loved and not broken.
The directors provide a family style home teaching the girls: how to be Moms, life skills, and helping them catch up on education! Their goal, unlike a lot of Casa Hogars, is to keep Mama & baby together. They desire to allow the Mamas to live at home into their 20’s to give them time to start healing emotionally & to develop a career.
Pastor Jozue has been serving the community of Ojos Negros for 5 years. His desire is to have entire families come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior leading to building healthier families that stay together!

Karen Willet & Lucas Campos focus on being mentors for at risk teens, especially teen boys! During the last 4 yrs they have poured their hearts into a group of boys that didn’t have any good role models.

Lupita’s goal for almost two decades has been to reach as many as possible for Jesus Christ & encourage believers of all ages!

El Refugio is an elderly home that has been in existence for over twenty-four years. Pastor Chuy started this minister in his home & a year later God provided a piece of property in which several buildings were constructed. This place has been a refuge for many over the past two decades, being home to between 150-180 residents at any given time. Elderly homes are nothing like those in the US. In Mexico it’s a place not only for the elderly, but physically disabled & mentally challenged. Many of these people also have some sort of deformity or illness & are seeking refuge from the streets as they’ve been discarded by their families & society itself. Pastor Chuy & his volunteers provide food, clothes, medicine, shelter & above all love! They share the love of Jesus & several residents each year come to know the Lord as their Savior!
Casa Hogar Horizonte is a new orphanage that’s home to about twelve children and will eventually house forty-eight kids that are in need of a safe place, a place to call home. Horizonte is already DIF certified, which means they are approved by the government to take in the most at risk youth. All these kids have experienced neglect, and several have also experienced physical or sexual abuse before coming to Horizonte. Some kids arrive directly from the streets without anything other than the clothes they are wearing. Paty, the director, is committed to helping these children process their past abuse while showing them that they are loved by Jesus and created for a purpose!
Ser la Luz was started 5 years ago as we saw the need to be liaisons for underrepresented ministries in Mexico. We saw that our brothers & sisters in Christ were listening to the Lord’s calling on their lives fulling the great commission but were struggling financially supporting their ministries. If you’re undecided about which ministry to support, you can donate directly here, and we will use it where it’s most needed!

These neglected children were brought into their home, fed, clothed, taught basic life skills and the Word of God. Over time, word got out and other parents started dropping off their children, some of which, were not picked up for days, weeks, or even months. Many of these parents simply could not support their children’s basic needs nor be there for emotional growth & development.
It didn’t take long before Carmelo and Sara began to operate, as a Foster Home (and orphanage, for some), providing these children life needs such as: a place to eat and sleep, clothes, an education, health care, moral and spiritual guidance. Further, Rayito has been receiving abused women giving them, and their children, shelter.
Rayito has never been fully supported since its beginnings. The Lord has been providing their basic needs thru many small private donors. Rayito does not yet have a stable consistent financial source. Ser la Luz would like to make that happen so that, instead of being distracted by providing the next meal, the workers can focus on giving the children much needed love, emotional support, teaching social skills, and showing them how they are loved by the Lord Jesus.
Also having a stable financial source will help with their broader missions, to teach the children life and technical skills that they can use as careers when they become adults, serve others & above all reach the families of these children for the Lord.
