Welcome To Ser La Luz

We strive to be a beacon of light and hope to abandoned children, battered women, the poor and the elderly South of the border with Mexico.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world,” — James 1:27, KJV

Our Goal and Purpose

Ser la Luz has a simple goal in mind: “To be a centralized conduit of giving and communication for works abroad, to support and come alongside those works in the field, and guiding new works, both foreign and domestic, that are fulfilling the Great Commission.”

Our ministry is to be liaisons for Christian based works south of the border that are being the hands and feet of Jesus to abandoned children, battered women, the poor and the elderly.  We desire to come along side these places as Jesus leads us to them, establish a close working relationship, and then help connect them with supporters in the United States.

Great Commission: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen,” — Matthew 28:19-20

What Our Name Means

Our name is Ser la Luz (del Mundo) which means “Be the Light (of the World). Our prayer is that God uses us to help the people who need it most.

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12

Getting To Know The Need

Ser la Luz is dedicated to getting intimate with the works that it will support thru giving from donors.

  • The Latin American Foster Care Network reports that there are around 400,000 children without parents in Mexico, 100,000 of which are homeless. This means that the large majority of orphaned children receive no care whatsoever.
  • There are over 300 orphanages in the Baja area alone. One of every three children have experienced physical abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse in their home before coming to an orphanage.
  • Elderly homes consist of not only elderly, but physically disabled & mentally challenged. Many of these people also have some sort of deformity or illness & are seeking refuge from the streets as they’ve been discarded by their families & society itself

Since the inception of Ser la Luz, we have had the blessing of working, and relying, on our partners in Baja and Southern California, to complete the works that Jesus has given to us.  Find out how you can support some of these partners.

You can help hands on! – Perhaps you, your church, or your youth group would like to visit.
